ITINERARIES
In Croatia it is possible to choose a holiday
of sea and sun, but its rich cultural and artistic patrimony
also deserve a visit.
The capital Zagabria is the only big metropolis of the nation,
by Baroque and Neoclassic aspect. The coastal cities are really
beautiful, many of Roman origin, many by Venetian imprint; three
of them are protected by UNESCO: Ragusa (Dubrovnik),
Traù (Trogir) and Spalato (Split); and many other
boast precious jewels: Zara (Zadar), Sebenico (Sibenik),
Pola (Pula) with the very ancient arena, Fiume (Rijeka),
Abbazia (Opatija), Rovigno and Parenzo.

suburbs of the inside area: from Colmo (Hum), the
smallest city of the world, to Grisignana (Groznjan),
"the artists' city", to the beautiful Montona (Motovun).
Finally, for something more and original: Varazdin, the
Baroque city and Hlebine, with its naive culture.
SPORT AND NATURALISTIC ITINERARIES

aquatic sports, want to combine the holiday with an opportune

In Croatia but also in the other neighbours
Republics of ex-Yugoslavia, there are a lot of places of cult,
destinations of pilgrimages, all connected with legends and
ancient traditions. There are Marian sanctuaries, spreaded on
the whole territory: from the Santuario della Beata Vergine
di Tersatto in Fiume (Rijeka) favourite destination
of the pope Giovanni Paolo II , to the Chiesa of Santa Croce
of Nona (Nin), the smallest cathedral of the world, to the
splendid Church of San Donato in Zara (Zadar), a jewel
of Byzantine art, to the Santuario of
Vepric, visited every year by a
big number of pilgrims recalled from the quiet of the place and
the similarity to the Sanctuary of Lourdes, to the Sanctuary of
Santuario of Marija Bistrica,
the most famous of Croatia, to the ancient and suggestive
Franciscan monasteries situated on islets like the Monastero
della Madonna delle Grazie in Visovac, inside the National
Park of the River Cherca (Krka) or the Monastero di Santa
Maria in Castellione (Kosljun) on the island of Veglia (Krk).
In the peninsula of Istria must not be forgotten the Basilica
Eufrasiana of Parenzo (Porec), protected by UNESCO for the
splendid Byzantine golden mosaics; the
Duomo di Sant'Eufemia in Rovigno,
whose bell tower is a copy of that of St. Mark in Venice; to
Dignano (Vodnjan), must be remembered also San Biagio,
that about preserves twenty paintings, one of
Palma il Vecchio, a
rich collection of sacred art and six mummies of Saints. In the
close Republics of ex-Yugoslavia, very famous it is the
Santuario della Regina della Pace of
Medjugorje, in Bosnia Herzegovina, where
from over twenty years frequent Marian apparitions are verified
and recalls million of believers from all over the world. In
Montenegro, bordering with the Dalmazia Meridionale, very
important it is the Monastero di
Ostrog from the spectacular
position in the cliff rock, that guards the reliques of St.
Basilio.
Also in Montenegro, finally it is to remember in Cattaro (Kotor)
the Cattedrale of San Trifone,
that guards from over thousand years the reliques of the Saint;
Cattaro, is destination of pilgrimages cause is the native place
of St. Leopoldo Mandic, one of the greatest precursors and
apostles of the ecumenicalism already confessor in Venice, Zara,
Bassano del Grappa, Thiene and finally buried in Padua, city
where he completed the philosophical and theological studies.
WINE AND
GASTRONOMY ITINERARIES.
Everywhere in Croatia you will have the
