 Croatia - Parks and Beauties

The National Parks of the Croatia are eight. The most famous is certainly the National Park of Plitvice, where sixteen lakes set on different levels are connected creating fascinating games of water and spectacular falls still dipped in a pure and uncontaminated nature.

Suggestive also the National Park of the river Cherca (Nacionalni Park Krka), founded for protecting the median and final course of the river Krka that, after dugging a canyon, form a series of lakes and splendid falls surrounded by a rich vegetation.

The National Paklenica Park is very particular, the peaks of the Velebit, where born the Bora wind, rise impressive beyond Adriatic sea creating a sensational landscape of rocks and sea.

Typically mountain is the National Park of Risnjak, instituted in the northern Croatia to the border with the Slovenia to protect the particular geological features of the zone, constituted by woods and pastures with frequent Karst phenomena, and the characteristic vegetation influenced by the particular climatic conditions.

Of recent origin is the National Park of the northern Velebit, founded with the purpose to protect the landscapes of the more imposing mountainous chain of the Croatia, the Velebit, that connected three Croatian provinces and is over 145 kilometres of length, is completely different from the last three coastal parks, a real oasis for people on holiday, sub and sailors.

The National Park of Brioni is very famous, in front of the extreme point of the peninsula of Istria, it have been the summer and private residence of Tito president of ex-Yugoslavia.

Spectacular the National Park of the Incoronate (Nacionalni Park Kornati), that includes 147 among islands, islets and rock-cliffs of white rock almost all uninhabited and without vegetation, spread in a clear sea with jagged coasts, hidden bays and underwater caves.

Not to lose, finally, also the National Park of Meleda (Mljet), on the homonymous island of the South of Dalmazia, where the legend narrates that Ulisse sojourned for seven years with the nymph Calipso. Almost entirely mountainous, it includes two Karst depressions, many lakes of salty water connected with the sea by channels. Beautiful the forest of pines of Aleppo, italic pines, oaks and ilexs.
